Romance Bandits Rock - X-Posted

Last week Romance Novel TV hosted a week with The Romance Bandits
Each day, they posted a picture, and four the Bandits gave four different vignette’s of the picture. Then we finished the scene with one line or more. Five days, five different pictures, and each day had four different Bandits.

At the end of each day those four authors picked a winner, (different prizes each day). On Thursday, Hawk was chosen as Honorable Mention and on Friday, I was chosen as an Honorable Mention. Very cool.

Talk about having a blast and reading some amazing endings as well as ALL the Bandits vignette’s. Winning wasn’t the reason for doing it, even though everyone loves to win something. But letting your creative mind go, reading the vignette and then rolling with what came to you was so much fun.

Reading the others was amazing. So much talent and many that we wanted to know the rest of their story.

With so many people commenting (about 200 each day), we read everything from flying grannies to an interrogation room (that no one expected) to a ghost bride who...

Update on the House

The sellers have accepted our offer. WhooHoo!!! Now we have to wait for their bank to accept the offer and that could take weeks.

Have I ever mentioned I'm not so good at the waiting game? Yeah, not so much. I've already picked out the color paint I want for a couple of the rooms, where I'll place furniture and how my office will be.

I'm throwing out junk, packing up stuff to take to the Salvation Army, and looking around the house we're in now, knowing it'll take tons of boxes to move us. Which lies the other problem. Science Guy has decided to have packers pack us.

Sounds great, right?

Really it is great, BUT I have things I don't want packers to pack or move for that matter. I'm wanting to pack them up now. I can't do that yet. Since we have to wait on the bank to approve (their bank, not ours), then wait for them to set the closing date, it could be...six weeks before we move.

Needless to say all of this is not making my writing flow. I am writing, just not quite as much as I should be. So, tomorrow night, wait scratch that, I have a board meeting tomorrow night, so Tuesday night I'm back to the 'love ya honey, gotta go write' when I come home from work.

Next week Helen Scott Taylor will be here. I'm so excited! I can't wait to read her book.

Ramblings with LKap…

She's back. Just in case anyone missed last week, LKap will be bloggin on Thursday's. What will she talk about? Anything and Everything. You won't want to miss it.

So we were going to do an interview today…sorry but if you want to know something specific post it and I’ll do my best to answer…within reason of course :) Truthfully, we need help….I think I’m boring :)

After spending an entire weekend posting back and forth with a bunch of great authors—some old and new found friends over at the Wicked Writers it got me to thinking…

I talk to these people almost every day. Say good morning to people I’ve never met. Tell them things I’d probably never say to most people. Send prayers out for sick family members or just others that don’t feel good. It’s a comfortable place for me and I’ve chatted with some amazing people.

But I’ve never met a single one of them face to face. (But hope to soon!)

This is how I came to my pondering. And some questions I asked myself—now I’m asking you.

In each of our lives we see some of the same people daily, weekly, monthly and sadly sometimes only yearly. But the bigger question hanging in my mind is how do we greet them?

Do you say good morning to everyone you pass in the hallway, subway, elevator? I know I try to, but not always.

Do you smile when you see someone you don’t really know? Again I try and it depends on my mood – not how it might affect the other person’s mood or their perception of me.

When you’re having a bad day do you take it out on the waitress who brings you your food and something is wrong with it (just something else to offset your day)? Me, I can honestly answer never to this – I’ve been a waitress. But I’ve seen people do it. Interjection here - Someone told me this once: “You can tell a true person’s insides by how they treat their waiter/waitress.” So far it’s been right on the money.

We live in a cyber world and it’s so easy to hide behind it. I love my group friends, but I honestly want to smile face to face and say hello to each and every one of them. So…pick up the phone, say good morning and smile at everyone you see.

As we get older we forget the task of being nice, and focus on the task at hand instead. There are a lot of great people out there waiting to see your smiling face and who knows it might make you feel better too.

Shaking in Your Boots Words or Jumping Up and Down Excited Words? - X-posted

Before I begin, there’s an added bonus at the bottom of this post! Go ahead, check it out, then come back, and read the post. If you’re like me, you have to know the bonus before you continue. :)

La, la, la, la, la…oh, you’re back, sorry about that. I tend to sing or hum when I’m waiting. With RWA nationals around the corner, (registration is now open), I thought we’d talk about pitching.

What is it about the words ‘Pitching to an Editor’ that causes the stomach to roll, the eyes to blur, and the heart to pound with the force of category five hurricane? (I’m in Florida, so change the hurricane to twister, blizzard, or whatever major weather you have where you’re from.)

For any of you who’ve been to conference you totally understand the above paragraph. For those who haven’t here’s a little image for you.

Breathe, you tell yourself as you sashay into the perfect meet the editor/agent outfit. You’ve remembered not to wear perfume, just incase their allergic. Having them break out into hives or a sneezing fit isn’t going to help you get those much-wanted words, ‘send me the full’.

With a quick check of the iron, making sure you’ve unplugged it from the wall, you grab your badge and head out the door. You check your watch and smile. Thirty minutes until your pitch appointment. You’re doing great.

The elevator door opens and you squeeze in with countless other hopefuls, only to remember…
