Arizona Beauty
Just a few pictures from AZ. The catus mountains are beautiful and although I've captured them on film, I have not in anyway captured the true beauty of this land.

The Land of the Desert
No, I'm not talking about my writing, but the beautiful Arizona area. I'm visiting my daughter this week while Science Guy is home with the doggies.
It never fails to amaze me when I land and look around at the landscape of this area. The first time I flew out here I totally expected it to be a barren wasteland (yep, means the same thing). To my utter surprise it was and is beautiful.
There are tons of cactus of all different sizes and shapes, and many plants native to the area that are so cool. The sunsets are beautiful and while I love the sunsets over the water, the sun descending behind a mountain of cactus is pretty cool.
I guess the part that is the hardest for me is the scorpions out here. I'm not talking a few little ones (which by the way the little ones are more poisonous than the big ones), but they have them pretty much anywhere you go. I've not seen one and I'm hoping not to.
We've painted ceramics, went to the movies (Alice In Wonderland so did not impress me, very sad since I love Johnny Depp, but that's another blog in itself), and we're talking about going to get hot stone massages.
All in all it's been a great trip.
Next week I'm doing a book giveaway so make sure you check back.
xoxxo,
Vicki

Staycation – WhooHoo
Today is my Friday and I’m counting the hours until 5:00PM. The day job, like so many others, is closed on Monday and I’m off tomorrow.
A four day staycation. I love it. Normally when I take a vacation from the day job, even a short one like this, it’s to go somewhere and do something. Never to just relax.
I’ve got plans…plans to do whatever I want.
Maybe I’ll relax by the pool with a cabana boy or two bringing me margaritas, yeah, not so much. The pool in our new house was filled in with dirt a few years before we bought it and Science Guy is the only cabana boy in this household.
No, my time off is going to be finishing the Florida room. Major yay!! Science Guy’s tools will no longer be on the dinning room table, but back in the garage where they belong. And the kitchen ceiling will be repainted.
After that, I have a weekend of writing and finishing Diana Peterfreund’s Rampant. (Fabulous book).
Science Guy is going to work in the backyard so maybe I’ll do a little of that with him, but all in all, I have four days of staying in our new home and finishing things up.
Labor Day we’ll (I mean he’ll) cook out and chill.
What about you? Do you take staycation’s? Are you like me and your vacations always involve going somewhere and staying busy the entire time?
Hugs,
Vicki

Vacation Pics
I had a blast in Arizona. Okay, after the looong plane ride, I had a blast. :)
The first day we went to the Renaissance Festival, which is amazing. The thing is huge and the buildings are there all year round even though the festival is only eight weeks. I love this one.
Of course there is the normal jousting and fire eating:

And the statue guy was amazing. He never moved at all, until someone gave him a tip and then he did really cool movements.

And what festival isn't complete with a Scottish band?
The rest of the week was filled with shopping (always shopping) :) and going out to eat, painting pottery, and just general fun stuff. Arizona is beautiful with the mountains and catus.
I didn't even write while I was there even though I took my brand new little Dell. Which I love. It's small and easy to carry around. But with margarita's everywhere we went, I never did more than check a few emails on it.
All in all I had a great time, but I'm glad to be back and trying really hard to get back into the swing of things. The day job is crazy busy and SG is not home until next Tuesday. This is the longest we've ever been apart.
Even though this was technically a vacation, it really didn't feel like one. To me, a vacation is where SG and I go to the beach or the mountains and just do nothing. Kinda like L's post yesterday.
So, now he and I are talking about a cruise. I'm not sure when it will be, but that will be a vacation. :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend. And for those who've signed up for the quarterly newsletter it should be out sometime next week.

Vicki
