Surprise Book(s) Giveaway

Before I begin today's actual post, I'd like to say thank you for all of the well wishes and prayers for Science Guy. And for those who might not have known and wondered where I was all last week, well Science Guy gave us quite a scare last Friday. He ended being in the hospital for four days and after many test and x-rays they determined that he had a TIA (mini stroke).

He was very fortunate and this was a wake up call to take better care of his health. Now we're going for walk, and watching that dreaded salt in take and yes first child, he's quiting smoking. Or at least he's working very hard on it.

Okay, now for today's post. Since I've been extremely busy with SG and being back to work, I've decided to a contest this week for a box of books. There'll be no less than 4, but it could be up to 10. All you have to do is leave a comment to be entered.

Well, maybe that's not all you have to do. How about you tell L and I about something that's your favorite. It can be a seasonal thing, a back in the day the thing, a vacation thing...you get the picture.

xoxoxo,
Vicki

Holy crap! Take care of him!! And tell him to take care of himself! AND don't you forget to take care of yourself! *hugs*

As for my favourite thing? Right now? Halloween!

I love dressing up. This year, we are going to a party, that has a superhero/villain theme. So I am going as Poison Ivy, but she is in Arkham, so my costume partially consists of a Straight Jacket! :D

Bless your hearts. Glad that Science Guy is ok.
I am looking forward to seeing the kids in their costumes this year. They get so excited about Halloween.

Oh my gosh, that is awful! I will keep you both in my prayers. Sounds like you are doing all of the right things!!

Waiting on the snow and Christmas are my favorite things right now. I love that time of year.

Natasha - Thanks, I'm watching him like a hawk. Probably driving him crazy. ;)

Heehee, I love your party costume. I used to dress up all the time, but not so much anymore. Hmmmm...maybe this year.

Crystal - I'm with you on seeing the kids. I love to see what they've come up with. Thanks for the wishes for SG. He is doing so much better.

Amy - thank you, we very much appreciate your continued prayers.

Snow. Oh I'd love to wake up and see snow. I love everything about Christmas. Even the crazy rush to buy presents, get them wrapped and under the tree or in the mail, although this year I'm thinking they'll be more gift cards than actual presents mailed.

Wow, Vicki, I didn't know. Glad he is doing well, and that you two are looking to take better care of yourselves. Shouldn't we all? Prayers...

I'm glad SG is doing better and on the road to better everything.

So favorite thing.....even though I may bitch about it I love carving pumpkins and getting ready for the holiday season. So much fun.

Patricia - I totally forgot to tell you. Yes, he is so much better, but continued prayer is a good thing and still needed. :)

Brandy - I love to carve pumpkins!! We never did it growing up because my mom said it was too messy. When SG and I started living together he came home one day with two of them and said go to it. I had so much fun, and yes it was messy.

Vicki, I'm so glad it was a wake up call and not something worse! Big hugs to you and Science Guy -- I hope you are able to take some time together to slow down!

My favorite -- easy -- I want to be curled up on a beach -- a QUIET beach, with white sand, no bugs, beautiful ocean and a steady supply of drinks from a nice hunka hunka burnin' love, and ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO READ ;-)

~sigh~

Thanks for the giveaway!

I hope Science Guy feels better soon and that it ends up not being too bad.

My favorite thing is the Christmas season. Of course I hate the cold and ice but I love the season!

Vicki said...

Bella - I love to read on the beach. Not that I go do it much anymore, but I love. Thanks for the well wishes.

Vicki said...

donnas - we're hoping the same thing. Christmas is wonderful, yet it is a bit different now that kids are grown. Still I love the decorating, baking, and just good feelings.

I had no idea Science Guy was sick. I'll keep y'all in my prayers. The walking, diet changes, and stopping smoking will go a long way to get him healthy.

Right now my favorite thing would include a day where I don't have to do anything but read. Don't see a day like that happening any time soon.

Oh man...that really is very scary. I'm glad he's okay though. I hope he recovers fully soon enough.

My favorite thing right now is Diwali, the festival of lights, or was rather. It got over yesterday :(

Vicki said...

Liza - That's one of my favorite kind of a day. Reading without having to stop.

Vicki said...

kh - a vacation is always wonderful, but lately I'm wanting a staycation. Just to stay home and not have to do anything unless I want to. Heehee.

Vicki said...

Violet - Did you do anything special for the festival of lights?

I'm glad SC is recovering and, boy, what a scare. I hate when that happens. And take care of yourself, too.

I love this time of year. Cooler weather inspires crockpot cooking for me and some mischief-making for Halloween. The only down side to cooking in the crockpot is that you have to start thinking about ingredients the night before and chop everything so you can just dump it all in crockpot in the morning. But its so worth it.

Glad to hear Science Guy is doing well. Remember to take care of yourself too.

Looking forward to having a quiet day to read!
