Tuesday Check In and The Quiz Answers

Time to check in with last week’s progress:

New words this week - 742
Words cut - not sure

Synopsis - working on POS, true POS

Revising on the hard copy - through chapter 10

Looking up the words, 'as he', as she' - too many to count and working on changing bunches of them

Retreat – making 75 workbooks, name badges (thank you so much Laurie K for helping with this), movie for movie night, emails, talking with the hotel, and more stuff that has to be done just before the retreat

Next week: Synopsis POS finished, hard copy revisions entered into the manuscript, oh and maybe going back to page one after Michael Hauge's workshops. ;)

Now for the answers to yesterday’s quiz. This is the quiz that I found over on Bruce’s blog.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

The correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put in the giraffe, and close the door. This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Wrong Answer: Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant and close the refrigerator.
Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door. This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your actions.

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend except one. Which animal does not attend?
Correct Answer: The Elephant. The Elephant is in the refrigerator. This tests your memory.

OK, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross. But it is inhabited by crocodiles. How do you manage it?
Correct Answer: You swim across. All the Crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting. This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Andersen Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the professionals they tested got all questions wrong. But many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this conclusively disproves the theory that most professionals have the brains of a four year old.

Your turn. Did you know the answers to these? How was your writing week? Plotting, thinking about it, actual words on the page or cut from the page? Or are you working on the synopsis? Submitting?

The Pay It Forward contest is still going on. Leave a comment to be entered and on Feb. 8th I’ll pick two winners.

WW’s and PD’s,
Vicki

Hi Vicki. Hey, I knew all the answers!
That should be a great workshop. A couple of years ago I went to the Creative Screenwriting conference in LA and he was one of the speakers. The whole conference was fantastic. One of these days I'll get off my butt and actually finish a writing project that I've started. I'm full of (something) ideas, a little weak on the implementation.

Vicki, that quiz is so funny! Thanks for sharing!

Wish I could be one of the 75 to get a workbook, especially since Delta is running a special $59 each way nonstop fare from LGA to TPA this weekend. But the workshop is full and I don't belong to TARA, so I guess I'm outta luck. :-(
