The Holidays are Here!!!

I saw this over on Alison Kent’s blog and since it is the season thought I’d put it here. No one has been tagged, but if you decide to put it up on yours let us know in the comments. We love to check stuff like this out. :)

I edited the questions to hopefully include everyone. :D

1. What is your favorite Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa romance to re-read each year?
This is a hard one since I can’t find the one I used to love. I don’t remember the name but there was a present that appeared under the tree and no one knew who placed it there. During the book they were trying to find what was needed in order to not lose their home (historical) and at the end it was in the present from…they never knew.

2. What is your favorite Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa movie/show?
I have two. It’s A Wonderful Life and The Christmas Story

3. What is your favorite Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa cookie?
Fruitcake cookies. I typically hate the actual fruitcake but the cookie recipe is yummy.

4. When do you start Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa shopping?
Normally I start very early, like September or October. This year, not so much. I did a mega shopping day last Sunday though and I’m almost done. Which is a good thing since Christmas is 13 days away (counting today).

5. Do you re-gift?
Nope. I do reuse gift bags though. That’s okay, right?

6. What is your favorite Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa song?
Okay, so I love them all. But I do love Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, and the video below is fun as well. :)

7. When do you get your Christmas tree? Or begin to decorate for Hanukkah or Kwanzaa?
Since mine is artificial, it’s usually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I miss having a real tree. Maybe when the doggies are older.

8. Wrapping presents: Love it or hate it?
If I wrap them as I buy them then I love it. If I wait and have to do them all at once, I hate it.

9. Who is the hardest person to buy for?
Hmmm…I had to think about this. I would say my son. He’s nineteen and that pretty much says it all.

10. Christmas tree: Real or artificial?
See number 7

And now for some holiday cheer in song. I thought this was fun since it captured so many of the songs.

So how about you? Are you finished shopping? Do you like it? What's your favorite things about it?

Oh and I revised the first 6 pages. Only 300 more to go. :D

LOL. Way to get started already, though! No rest for Vicki!!

Vicki, you should get Erica to create a Revis-o-meter for you so we can all track your progress!

1) "Why the Chimes Rang" - I used to listen to this hour after hour as a kid, according to my mother. I think it's the reason I later became an organist - I just lurved that organ music!

2) Miracle on 34th Street - because they wind up with the perfect house in Connecticut!

3) Sugar cookies with frosting

4) Christmas Eve. Seriously. As stated before, I take a zen approach to buying gifts - I let the present find me. And guess what? It works!

5) Not exactly, but if I find something I'd fogotten I owned that would be perfect for somebody else, I tend to send it off to them.

6) Whichever one I heard most recently (I tend to play them over and over in my mind).

7) Haven't had a tree recently - no one to share it with.

8) I tell the store clerk that if s/he won't wrap it, I won't buy it. (Works every time!)

9) Myself. I already have just about everything I want (except someone to share the tree with).

10) Same answer as Vicki (see number 7)

Thanks to electronic retailing, I just finished shopping for the kids, which is the main nut. Now I have a few items to pick up and I'm done.

Congrats on diving into your revisions!

I LOVE "It's a Wonderful Life". That's probably my fave x-mas movie too.

I haven't even started my shopping yet! I plan to get it all done on Sunday.

I always leave my shopping to the last minute and then spend hours (in the last minute???) queuing. Every year I resolve to start earlier to miss the queues next year... and so on.

Good luck with the revision - do you do that on screen or on hard copy?

And I love, wrapping presents!

Erica - I'm up to ten pages now. Whoohoo!! The problem is I'll probably go back and work on them again. You know, it's that whole first five pages thing. :D

Bill - I love Erica's Revis-o-meter! Since I don't know how she did that one, I've added one that is showing page count vs. word count for now.

Patricia - Gotta love internet shopping. No crowds, you can shop in your pj's, and drink your favorite latte.

Ava - Good luck on Sunday. You can do it just be ready to make tons of trips to the car. :D

Leigh - I work edits from a hard copy. For me it is easier to bleed all over the paper and then go to the screen and make changes or...rewrite the entire scene.

Vicki, I love how you put that--bleeding all over the page--that truly sums up the whole process, doesn't it?

We share the same favorite holiday movies. But my favorite song would have to be "O Holy Night."

And I have a 19 year old son, too, so I know your dilemma there!

As for finishing up shopping, wrapping, etc.--are you kidding?

Fruit cake cookies??? I've never heard of them! Do you have a recipe?

Merry Christmas!!!

Vicki said...

Hey Wendi and congrats on your final! I'll look and see if I can find it. I haven't made them in several years now.

You are so smart to wrap your presents as you go. Unless you forget what's in them!
