Taking it Down, Putting it Away, and...Wait, It's All Still There

The holidays are officially over and my tree is still up. Yep, you read correctly. The tree, the smaller silver tree, (which is a really cool fiber optic), and the village are still glowing each night as if they’re waiting for the season to begin.

I’d planned to take it all down this weekend as I usually do, but I also needed to finish the final edits on ATB (which means I’ve cut 20,000 words out of the story). I’m happy to report it’s done. Finished. WhooHoo!!

Thought about taking it all down this evening, but after reading Hawk’s blog, I was trembling at the thought of killer dust bunnies. What’s one more night? Or two? Right?

Tonight I’ll clean my office because by the end of the book, there’s paper everywhere from edits, pics of my H/H, research notes, and just general stuff. And look at my cp’s work, which I need to critique/read through.

I’d rather be working on AToD though. I’d thought I’d give myself a few days off, but Annie is talking away. She’s ready and I don’t know about you, but when my characters are ready, my fingers get itchy to be on the keyboard.

Tomorrow I’m blogging over at Everybody Needs A Little Romance. You can find me there each Tuesday. I’m blogging along with four other writers from my GIAM group and it’s a great blog. Next week is beauty…hmmmm…can you say beauty issues. It promises to be funny, omg you didn’t do that, and a wow kind of week as each day we’ll talk about beauty and well, you’ll have to check it out next week.

So, what about you? Have you put away all your holiday decorations? Did you find a little bit of wrapping paper or bows once you thought you had it all stored away? Or are you like me and it’s still up shinning bright?

Your tree sounds cool! I have the standard green tree that I fill with balls (purple and blue this year) with thick silver garland that has hints of purple in it and I twisted it up with my gold garland. The combo came out really nice!
And this year I put the clear white lights along with the multi-colored lights on. It was a full tree this year.
And I topped it all off with a silver and white faerie at the top.

Everyone seemed to love it. I did it up special for my DH. I wanted him to have a special X'mas this year...

Yeah to the 20,000 word edit! I knew you could do it and still keep the story. Big hugs on that one, sweetie!

{{:-O after reading my blog? OMG,'re funny! I'll see you tomorrow at the other blog site!

Hugs and love

Vicki, I'm with you on the housework! I took down all the ornaments and holiday decorations yesterday, but the tree is still up. I'm just waiting for my husband to dismantle it and put it away. He says he'll put it on his list, meaning he might get around to it NEXT January.

Hope to see you Saturday!

I still have 3 ornaments I put on my little tree sitting next to my tv. I have to get into one of my storage closets to put them away and just haven't wanted to mess with it. All 3 were gifts for me this year, so that is the only reason they were on my tree. I really didn't plan on putting anything on the tree but the lights that were on it when I bought it.

Hawk, I have the standard green tree also. With white and colored lights and all kinds of cool decorations on it. Even has a tiny teapot pouring a cup of tea. :D

Karen, I can't wait to see you on Saturday!!! :)

Liza, I know what you're talking about. I can't put the village away until I take the tree down because the containers for the people are in the closet that the tree is in front of.

Hey Mom :) I guess I should count myself very lucky. My hubby has this week off and I came home today to find a completely Christmas-free home. He put it ALL away today while I was at work. Yippee! Now the laundry...that's another story! ha!

Two hours after putting our tree up, it fell over. I lost a few ornaments, sadly one or two of my grandmothers. Then on the weekend we were going to take it down it fell, twice. Yes, I said it, twice. At this point we have lost the will to remove the tree, but take off all of the ornaments we can reach because it is now leaning over on top of our lizards cage. I think he felt it was pretty kewl, as if he was in the jungle and we left it there for two more days as we felt rather defeated and it all seemed pointless.

After taking that break everything was removed in one day. The tree, remaining house decorations, outside lights and the headless reindeer (another long story that include a nasty wind storm.)

So let's just say that I am looking forward to a long season of non-holiday decorating. :)

Oh man, you're tree sounds beautiful - and knowing you, it is. You love the X'mas house so I know your decorations are going to be awesome ones.

Malicious Intent - you make me laugh.

You all have a great day - I'm off to the gym to start my new year right!
