100 Words for 100 Days Monday Check In

I love this 100 words for 100 days thing. I know, I know I‘ve said that before but it’s true. I love the fact that I don’t feel the pressure to make X amount of pages each day right now but words. And for anyone out there who has not read this blog before trust me 100 words is not all that much, about a half a page really.

Although I would have liked more words I’ll take what I did this past week with no problems. It means that I’m writing everyday. Some more than others but still it’s everyday. That’s a great thing.

Just in case you didn’t read last Monday’s blog I’m doing the 100 words for 100 days along with my TARA Chapter. I’ll report on Monday’s what I’ve done for the past week in word count. Oh and this word count is what I’ve done since starting this not including the words written prior (or any blog words). I’ll give that total at the end of the 100 days.

Here you go:

AT&B:
Last Sunday’s ending word count: 3087
Ending word count for the week: 6872
Total new words added this week: 3785

So have you joined me? Are you already doing this through your own local chapter? If you have leave your word counts in the comments. If you haven’t then hopefully you’ll decide to hop on board this week and join those of us who are doing it.

Oh I know I said in last Monday's blog that my critique partner Laurie Kapkowski would be here today to guest blog but it's tomorrow so be sure to come back and check it out.

I haven't been keeping track other than to say I've done my 100+. Guess maybe I should try to quantify things. Of course with all the rewrites I do, I won't make much actual progress... :)

Well this should be interesting... I'm working on a screenplay right now, not a novel. There's no "word count" function in Final Draft, so I had to cut and paste it all into a Word Doc to find out. It came to 7,345 words so far.

In screenwriting, no one asks you what your word count is. Never. Screenwriting format is very particular and you must write your script in the proper format. One page of script = one minute of screen time. I know it seems crazy that it could work that way but it does.

But I'll definitely play along with the 100 words for 100 days. I've been going for 14 days so far. I'm curious as to how many words a script might have.

Alyssa - congrats on writing everyday. I'm keeping an excel spreadsheet that I put in the word count each night. I wanted to know what each days count is and then I can get an average daily word count for the week.

Openchannel - I didn't know that a page equals 1 minute. Wow. See, that's why I'm sure I could never write a screenplay. Your word count is great though. Mega Congrats!

December - Thanks so much. I'm loving this and it's working so far. :)

My cp is guest blogging today so come back by and check it out.
