Monday Check In

Today's post will be late. I be at the local court house for possbile jury selection.

This afternoon or evening I'll post last weeks word count and this weeks contest.

Until then I thought I'd leave you with a question for upcoming contest. Who is your favorite author, books you'd love to see on the weekly contest, and what is it about them that you love?

This may introduce us all too new authors. :)

Also, if you'd like to guest blog on a Tuesday, email me at vickilanewrites at yahoo.com with your blog.

Ooh, jury selection! Hope you remembered to bring a good book with you. :-)

I think I'm gonna have to pass on contest suggestions - I have so *many* favorite authors that I couldn't pick just one. So maybe I'll stick to my pattern of giving an occasional shout-out when I stumble across something new (to me, at least) and exciting, like "Austenland".

Actually, now that I think about it, any author I happen to be reading at the moment automatically becomes my favorite. I'm such a story slut!!

(With apologies to the Mavens, who at one point considered that monniker for themselves.) ;-)

Wow, so hard to pick one! Just one? Can't do it. Depends on genre and even then, I have multiple favorites. Some of my faves are Francis Ray, Margaret Daley, Angela Benson, Robyn Carr, Karen Kingsbury, Randy Alcorn, Victoria Christopher Murray, Gwyneth Bolton, Brenda Novak, Heather Graham, Susan May Warren, Terri Blackstock, Shelley Galloway, Michelle Dunaway, and Debbie Macomber. There are many, many more.

I'd be interested in who others are reading. I always look up author recommendations on the web. Never know when I might find a gem.

Sorry about jury duty. I swear, I get picked every year.

My faves change all the time as I discover new ones. At the moment, Lisa Kleypas, Lisa Gardner, and Lisa Jackson, and Allison Brennan.

I love Stephenie Meyers for her smooth, deep storytelling and riveting plotlines; Tasha Alexander for her style and wit, Hester Browne for humor and flair...I could go on and on... :)

Like Bill, I've got too many favorite authors to count... (may explain why I have several hundred "keeper" books! Hmmm)

books you'd love to see on the weekly contest

Mine? ;) Man, wouldn't that be nice! Barring that... how about Karen's new one, Die For Me? Scott Westerfeld's Uglies books are pretty good. (But not romance. Wasn't sure what the parameters were.)

Erica <-- who moves around far too much to have ever been called in for potential jury duty. Mua ha haaa!!!

P.S. to Alyssa--I've been eyeing Stephanie Meyers forever it seems and finally broke down and bought Twilight a few months back. It's near the top of my TBR... maybe I should move it even higher!

Thanks to everyone who commented on fav authors. I love to find new authors to read and what better way than through other readers. :)

This also gives me ideas on what you'd like to see on the weekly contest.

I brought a great book. It's Jessica Bird's "The Billionaire Next Door". You may know her also by JR Ward. I recently found out she writes for Harlequin under her real name. The book is great! :)
